Today’s Project
I was very excited to see the colors for today’s project. Take a look.
Today’s Color Palette
Don’t these just scream Christmas to you??? No? Well, I love Christmas so much and have so many different color schemes in my decorations, that these colors fit right into one of them. Today’s card is also a sneak peek at some goodies from the July-August Mini Catalog. It uses a new bundle called Whimiscal Trees which is going to get a workout in my craft room! Take a look.
See, perfect Christmas colors! I used the dies from the Christmas Dies set which is bundled with Whimsical Trees for a 10% discount! Who doesn’t like a discount??? After embossing some Granny Apple Green cardstock using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder, I cut them out using the dies. The die cuts out a very tall tree. I shortened it by lopping off the bottom of the tree using the dies. Easy Peasy! Then, I cut the garland using the die from the same set in Melon Mambo and Bermuda Bay. Again, I had to cut off some of the garlands at the bottom to fit the trees.
I thought the Bermuda bay layer looked a little blah, so I dabbed Shimmery Crystal Effects on it to look like snow. The sentiment was stamped in Melon Mambo ink and the Picture This die made a nice frame for it! You should have seen me searching for a die to cut out the sentiment because I didn’t want to layer it and it looked too plain without some sort of border! The sentiment is from the Snowman Season stamp set. I’m sure glad it carried over because this sentiment has the right amount of quirkiness in the font!
I finished off the front using rhinestones that I colored with my Stampin’ Blends. Every card needs a little bling!
Make the INside Pretty
I cut a smaller tree and garland from the same die set, glued them together, and then attached them to a Basic White panel layered on a Bermuda Bay panel. The sentiment is from the Whimsical Trees stamp set. And, of course, it was stamped in Melon Mambo.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
To decorate the envelope, I used the same dies as I used for the inside except I switched the garland color to Melon Mambo. I’m not sure I’d mail this card unless it’s in a plastic sleeve. I’d be afraid the tree would get wrecked in the mail. Of course, if I used one of the non-machinable butterfly stamps, it might survive. But who would want to take that risk?
Here’s one last look at the card.
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
If you’d like to try to recreate this card, you can find a list of the products I used at the end of this post. Need a demonstrator or a catalog? Drop me a line and I’ll put one in the mail. And, f you ever have any questions, please feel free to comment or email me. And, don’t forget to Pin this post so you can find it again!
