Today the demonstrators from Crafty Collaborations have a Sketch Challenge. As I’ve said many times, I love Sketch Challenges. I love having a structure to work within and because I’m limited I can be more creative. Kind of a paradox. I chose the Abigail Rose Collection from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog for my project. But, before I get to the project, let’s look at the sketch.
Today’s Project – Abigail Rose
I took some liberties with the sketch. Instead of a turned-up corner, I added two Grey Basic Matt dots. The other liberty was that I turned one of the square panels into a circle. But, I still think it’s pretty faithful to the sketch.
The circle is mounted on a foam adhesive sheet to give it some substance. Before mounting the circle, I embossed it with the Quatrefoil Embossing folder for some texture.
Abigail Rose Collection
The Abigail Rose Collection is a beautiful, neutral floral collection with a stamp set, coordinating dies, designer series paper, and some natural ribbon. The floral images are easy to color with Stampin’ Blends or watercolors. The artist made it easy with the brushstrokes on the stamp. The coordinating dies cut the stamped images and additional leaf images.
After stamping the sentiment with Smoky Slate ink, I added a double bow tied with the Basic Gray Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack.
The striped pattern from the DSP was the initial inspiration for my card. I thought it would work well for the vertical panel.
Given the boldness of the stripes, I wanted a more neutral pattern for the front. This Smoky Slate pattern was perfect, especially with a thin frame of Petal Pink around it.
Today’s Color Palette
So after making the card and writing this post, I discovered that the Pear Pizzazz Blends are retired. But, I think Granny Apple Green would work just as well. What do you think?
Another combo that would also work is using Soft Succulent as the green.
Make the Inside Pretty
I cut a couple of strips of the striped DSP and added it to the top and bottom of the Basic White panel. Then I wrapped some twine around the edge of the top and bottom strips.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
The same striped paper was carried over onto the edge of the envelope to tie it all together.
I hope you enjoyed today’s card. Now it’s time to see what the others have in store for you. So, grab a beverage, sit back, relax, and enjoy the hop.
The January – June mini catalog is expiring on June 30! It’s your last chance to get some fabulous products at a discount. But, once they’re gone, they’re gone.
If you don’t already have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I’d love to be yours. Just drop me a note here.
