Today is the last day of my series of August 2020 Paper Pumpkin alternatives. I’m ending it with cards I made with some friends in mind. I want to celebrate them and let them know just how much they mean to me and how important they are in my life, especially during this pandemic!
Alternative Card #11 – You’re the Best
I really like this card. I used one of my favorite layouts – a piece of DSP (Designer Series Paper) layered with a solid color on the left side of the card base and a focal image in the middle. For this card, I treated the card fronts from the kit like DSP and cut it into a 1 1/2″ strip which I layered on Bumblebee card stock which I attached to a Pacific Point card base.
After stamping the sentiment in Pacific Point ink on one of the Whisper White circles from the kit, I layered it on a gold foil circle that I had embossed using the Subtle embossing folder. I love the texture that folder gives to the project. Then I took another die cut from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Designer Series Paper which I put on top of one of the elements from the kit. A few stars and I was done. Simple, but elegant! Those gold die cuts make it so easy.
Alternative Card #12 – #1 Friend
I switched things around for this card. I used a Bumblebee base and layered one of the cut in half pieces of cardstock from the kit on top. Then I added the background piece from the kit on an angle. The focal image is one of the Pacific Point circles from the kit with a Whisper White circle cut using the Layering Circles dies on top of it. I stamped the sentiment using Pacific Point ink on one of the Whisper White circles from the kit which I layered on one of the gold elements from the kit. I added some vellum leaves from the kit which I supplemented with some of the laser cut leaves from the Forever Gold DSP. A few gold stars from the kit finished it off.
Alternative Card #13 – To a Friend
This final card was simple to make but has a big impact. I took one of the pieces of cardstock from the kit and layered it on a piece of gold foil. The trick you can’t see is that the gold leaves on a previous card were cut from the foil before making this card. No one sees what’s under the layer, so why not make the most of it! The card base is Pacific Point. I stamped the sentiment from Forever Fern on a piece of Whisper White and cut it out with the Layering Circle dies. I layered it on one of the die cuts from the Forever Gold DSP. Can you tell I like that paper??? It seems so perfect with this kit. I added some gilded gems and a bow made from some retired Gold 1/8″ ribbon. So simple, with a big impact!
Well, that it for my Paper Pumpkin alternatives. I hope I’ve inspired you to look at your kits in a new way. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t like the projects in the kit. Think of it as a set of supplies to test your creativity. Use additional supplies that you already have to make some stunning cards.
The supplies used in today’s cards are shown below with links to purchase them in my online store. If you don’t yet have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours. And, if you’d like a catalog, I’ll get one out to you.
