Today I’m hopping with Stamping with Friends and our theme is our favorite Sale-a-bration products. I choose two because I couldn’t decide which one was my very favorite. So, I use Beautifully Happy & Dandy Designs. Both are available with a $100 for each purchase in my online store.
Sale-a-bration is Stampin’ Up!’s biggest yearly sale. For each $50 or $100 you spend, you can pick a free product. And, these aren’t just samples. They’re full products! So, if you spend $100 you can choose one $100 item or two $50 items. Check out what’s available here.
Today’s Project – Beautifully Happy & Dandy Designs
I have two cards today because I couldn’t choose between two similar pieces of DSP. So I decided to make two cards, one with orange colors and the other with purple colors.
This fun fold is easy to make although it looks a little complicated. And it shows off the DSP beautifully. I found it on Connie Stewart’s Blog – Simply Simple Stamping and liked it because it shows off the DSP but is also a fun fold.
I stamped the images using Basic Gray ink so that the colors wouldn’t be overwhelmed. I use Basic Gray for this frequently. Sometimes I also use Smoky Slate. It makes the colors, not the outline the star of the card.
The only tricky part of this card is keeping the 3 pieces of DSP in the correct top, middle, and bottom pieces in order so that the patterns line up on the card front.
Today’s Color Palette
This looks like a lot of colors but the first two and last two are the base colors for two different cards. The middle three colors are common between both cards. Both color palettes come straight from the DSP.
Beautifully Happy
This is my favorite stamp set from Sale-a-bration. Like the Dandy Designs DSP, the flowers are so cheerful. And it’s a two-step stamp set so it’s easy to ‘color’. But, for those of you who like using other color mediums, the open design is perfect for water coloring, colored pencils, or Blends.
Dandy Designs
I just love this DSP. It’s so colorful and cheery. it just makes me want to smile. Plus you get 48 sheets! That’s four of each pattern. And, even better, it’s free with a $100 purchase during Sale-a-bration.
This is the Calypso Coral / Mango Melody pattern that I used on the first card. There’s something about the pattern and color palette that really speaks to me.
I had a hard time choosing between the two patterns, especially since Fresh Freesia matches my hair! But, I went with the Calypso Coral first because it’s outside my comfort zone. And then, I just had to make a card using the Fresh Freesia print.
Make the Inside Pretty – Beautifully Happy & Dandy Designs
For the inside, I stamped the smaller flower using Basic Gray ink. Notice that it was stamped so that part of the stem was off the page as if there were dirt below it. It was ‘colored’ by stamping the inside stamp with either Calypso Coral or Fresh Freesia ink with either Mango Melody or Gorgeous Grape ink.
Don’t Forget the Envelope – Beautifully Happy & Dandy Designs
One of the best things about the Dandy Designs DSP is that you get 4 sheets of each pattern which makes it really easy to use it to cover the envelope flap and still have lots left over.
You can Make It Too – Beautifully Happy & Dandy Designs
Make the Cuts
- Card base (Calypso Coral or Gorgeous Grape) – 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.
- Layer 1 (Mango Melody or Fresh Freesia) – 5 1/4″ X 11″. Score at 1 3/4″ x 3 1/2″ from each end.
- DSP Mat (Mango or Fresh Freesia) 1 3/4″ x 4″. Cut 3.
- DSP (Print 1 or Print 2) – 3 3/4″ x 1 5/8″. Must be cut from a contiguous sheet so patterns match.
- Sentiment Mat (Calypso Coral or Gorgeous Grape) – 3″ x 3″.
- Sentiment (Basic White) – 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″
- Inside Liner (Basic White) – 3 3/4″ x 5″
Stamp
- Stamp the sentiment using Tuxedo Momento Black ink on the upper right hand of the Basic White square.
- Stamp the large flower on the same square using Basic Gray ink.
- Stamp the small flower on the inside liner using Basic Gray Ink.
- Stamp the leaves of both using Granny Apple Green ink.
- Stamp the inside of the flowers using either Mango Melody or Fresh Freesia ink.
- Stamp the buds on the larger flowers using Calypso Coral or Gorgeous Grape stamped off.
Assemble
- Fold along the score lines using Mountain folds for the score lines closest to the edge and then Valley folds for the others.
- Attach the inner liner to the inside of the card.
- Attach the folded piece to the card base.
- Attach the DSP mats to the card front. The top & bottom should be attached to the left and the middle attached to the right.
- Attach the DSP to the mats starting with the middle. This piece of DSP should be centered. The top and bottom should line up with the middle on the left and right sides but flush with the bottom or top.
- Embellish with Iridescent Rhinestones.
Time to Hop
I hope you enjoyed today’s fun fold. It really shows off the DSP. Won’t you leave me a comment and tell me which color combo is your favorite? Now, it’s time to see what the other Stamping Friends have to inspire you. So, grab a beverage, sit back and relax, and enjoy the hop!
