Crafty Collaborations is hosting another blog hop today featuring Father’s Day cards. We want to inspire you to honor the dads in your life. For my post, I chose the Beside Me stamp set. The images are perfect for a Father’s Day or Birthday card. And, if you like to color, they’re also perfect for coloring.
Today’s Project – Beside Me
Isn’t this a sweet picture of a dad at the beach with his child pointing out the bird flying by?
Today’s Color Palette
I wanted to use some DSP and this sheet of Blueberry Bushel from the Glorious Gingham DSP was perfect. To set the background, I lightly brushed Lost Lagoon and Balmy Blue on the Basic White panel using small blending brushes. I wanted just a hint of color to represent the sea and sky but didn’t want it to overpower the image.
Beside Me Stamp Set
In addition to having perfect images for Father’s Day, the sentiments are also great. I love the Beside Me All the Way next to the dad teaching the kid how to ride a bike. And the open-line, images are easy to color in your choice of mediums. Although I used Stampin’ Blends, Waterpainters or Watercolor pencils would also work.
Glorious Gingham
This gingham DSP contains many of the new colors – Blueberry Bushel, Berry Burst, Pecan Pie, Pretty Peacock, and Lemon Lime Twist. It’s very versatile and a great way to get DSP with the new colors to play with.
Twisted Rope 3D Embossing Folder
I love this new embossing folder. The texture it puts on a card takes the card front up a notch. To get a deeper impression with it, lightly mist the paper before embossing it.
Make the Inside Pretty – Beside Me
For the inside, I added a strip of the DSP to the bottom of the inside of the card. Another sentiment stamped on the inside is perfect for a Father’s Day card.
Don’t Forget the Envelope – Beside Me
To decorate the envelope, I added the leftover DSP to the envelope flap and trimmed it to fit.
