Once again I’m hopping with Crafty Collaborations. Today’s theme is florals! One of my favorite things in the world! I thought I’d try something a little different today, so I used the Blessings of Home stamp set and Pearlescent Specialty paper from the January-June mini catalog. Take a look.
Today’s Project – Blessings of home
The Pearlescent Specialty paper has a hard shine to it which makes it hard to stamp on. In fact, you can only use Stazon ink and Stampin’ Blends on it. So, inked up the stamp with Stazon and used my Stamparatus to stamp to make sure I could restamp if it didn’t come out dark enough. I also was worried about smearing the image if I used a block. Once the image dried, I colored it with Blends. Now, I know you’re all thinking, you can’t use Stazon with Blends. And that’s mostly true because where the Blends meet Stazon, one will bleed into the other, and then what a mess! So I had to carefully color, making sure I didn’t hit the outline of the image.
You also have to take care because as you can see in the picture, every brush stroke is visible. But, the end result is so worth it! This card is the most sparkly card I’ve ever made. It’s so sparkly that I couldn’t really get a picture of the sparkle because the camera couldn’t handle it!
I used some Adhesive Backed Hexagons as accents. But, they were so flat looking compared to the sparkly flowers, that I had to add some Shimmery Crystal Effects to the top to give them some bling!
Today’s Color Combo
I am loving the Just Jade with Polished Pink. I’ve used it on a few projects lately. And, you’ll probably see it a little more because I want to use it as much as I can before it retires on May 3! So, if you like it as much as I do, order it now because it will sell out quickly once the retirement list comes out near the end of March!
Make the Inside Pretty
For the inside, I stamped the other floral image from the Blessings of Home stamp set using Tuxedo Momento Black ink and colored it with blends. As you can see, I only stamped part of the image. I didn’t want the image to take up the entire inside!
Don’t Forget the Envelope
For the inside, I used the same Pattern Party DSP on the flap that I used on the front. This is a host item and can only be redeemed for host rewards. But, a $180 order would get you this paper pack. And, let me tell you, this pack is amazing. 48 sheets of different patterns in a rainbow of colors. I hope Stampin’ Up! has something similar in the upcoming catalog. I’ve used this paper a lot this year!
I’m sending you off with one last look at my card. Now it’s time to hop on to the next blog and see what the rest of the team has done with the floral theme. You’re sure to get some great inspiration!
