The new Annual Catalog is live and Crafty Collaborations is celebrating with a blog hop! You’re sure to find tons of inspiration using products from the new catalog! I’ve chosen to use the Brewed for You bundle, He’s the Man DSP, and a fun fold from Mary Fish who blogs at StampinPretty.com
Today’s Project
This is the perfect masculine card for a beer drinker! I used Soft Suede ink to stamp the beer in a mug that had been stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I double-stamped the image because I wanted to make it look like a very dark beer. I probably should have gone lighter given the sentiment.
The card base is Very Vanilla Thick cardstock and the layers underneath the DSP are Early Espresso. The beer foam is also Very Vanilla which had Soft Suede sponged on it for depth. You only want a little color on the foam, just enough so it doesn’t look flat.
I used the Take Your Pick Tool to add some Rustic Metallic embellishments to the front. I played with those a bit. But ended up with 3 large ones near the sentiment and 3 small ones under the beer mug.
Using the putty end of the Take Your Pick Tool, makes adding the adhesive-backed embellishments very easy. In fact, it’s my favorite use of the tool!
Today’s Color Palette
As with the other card I did here, the DSP determined my color palette. Well, that and the fact that beer is usually in the brown family too!
Make the Inside Pretty
The sentiment is on the inside layer but shows on the outside which is interesting. I matted the Very Vanilla layer with one of the checked patterns from the DSP. I’m not sure it was worth it since it barely shows!
Don’t forget the envelope
I stamped the same beer image as on the card front onto the envelope, including double stamping the Soft Suede image.
You Can make it toO
- Start with a 4 1/4 “X 11″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla. Cut it at 9 1/4″ The remaining 4 1/4″ X 1 3/4” piece becomes the flap for the fun fold.
- Score the 4 1/4″ X 9 1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla at 1 7/8″ and 7 3/8″. Fold up to make the card front, creasing with a bone folder.
- Cut two pieces of DSP at 3 3/4″ X 1 3/8″.
- Cut two pieces of Early Espresso at 4″ X 1 5/8″.
- Attach the DSP to the Early Espresso mats. Attach the mats to the card front.
- Cut a piece of DSP to 4 x 1 1/2″. Attach to the ‘left over’ from the card base.
- Attach this piece to the front using dimensionals along the top only.
- Cut a piece of DSP or Early Espresso at 4 X 5 1/4″.
- Cut a piece of Very Vanilla at 3 1/2 X 4 3/4″. Attach this piece to the previous piece. Attach to the inside of the card.
- Stamp the sentiment using Soft Suede ink.
- Stamp the mug using Tuxedo Momento Black ink on a piece of scrap.
- Stamp the beer image using Soft Suede. Double stamp it to get depth.
- Cut out the mug and foam using the Brewed dies.
- Use a blending brush to lightly brush some Soft Suede ink on the foam.
- Attach the foam to the beer mug using liquid glue.
- Attach the mug to the front using dimensionals.
- Embellish with the Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots
