Today’s post is a sneak peek of a new set from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog called Brewed for You. I’m using it for a sketch challenge for a Crafty Collaborations blog hop.
Today’s Sketch
I looked at this image and immediately thought “Slimline card!” I love making these tall, thin cards because it’s a different dynamic than usual and sometimes a bit of a challenge! However, sometimes I have to ‘interpret’ the challenge a bit. In other words, I try to meet the spirit of the challenge if not an exact copy. Let’s see how I did!
Today’s Project
I really wanted to put the 3 beer glasses in a row across, but they just didn’t fit. So I staggered them! The DSP is from the He’s the Man Designer Series Paper and the colors in it were perfect for the card I had in mind.
I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the beer glasses and used Soft Suede stamped twice for the beer. After cutting the ‘foam’ from Very Vanilla cardstock, I lightly brushed it with a Blending Brush using Soft Suede ink.
Today’s Color Palette
Today’s color palette comes from the DSP with coordinating Neutrals. I liked the contrast of the DSP against the Very Vanilla which is why I used it instead of Sahara Sand as the base. And, as I mentioned above Soft Suede reminded me more of Guinness from my grad school days than Early Espresso did. Anyway, I do like this combination and this masculine card. I think it’s going to my son-in-law for his birthday!
Make the Inside Pretty
I used a strip of the same DSP from the front on the left side of the inside to add some interest to the inside. There is still plenty of room for writing!
Don’t Forget the Envelope
Did you know that a slimline card can fit in a standard business envelope? Well, it does. However, Stampin’ Up! also sells some slimline envelopes which I chose to use here. But, they only come in Basic White, Soft Succulent, and Gray Granite none of which fit my color scheme. So, I covered the envelope in the same DSP! Problem solved!
You Can Make It too – Brewed for You
- Cut a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock at 8 1/2″ X 7″. Score the 7″ side at 3 1/2″. Fold in half and crease using a bone folder to get a good crease.
- Cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock at 8 3/8″ X 3 3/8″. Attach it to the card front.
- Cut a piece of DSP at 8 1/4″ X 3 1/4″. Attach it to the card front.
- Stamp the beer glasses 3 times using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
- Stamp the beer image in each glass using Soft Suede ink. I stamped them twice to get a deeper image. I was probably thinking of Guinness!
- Die-cut the beer images using the Brewed die.
- Die-cut the larger foam images using the Brewed die. Use a blending brush to lightly blend Soft Suede ink on the foam.
- Attach the foam to the beer glass using liquid glue.
- Attach the beer glasses to the card front using dimensionals.
- Stamp the sentiment on a piece of 3/4″ X 3 1/4″ Very Vanilla.
- Attach it to a contrasting piece of DSP cut at 7/8″ X 3 1/4″.
- Attach this piece to a piece of Early Espresso cut at 1″ X 3 1/4″.
- Attach this to the card front using dimensionals.
- Attach a large Rustic Metallic Adhesive-Backed dot on each side of the sentiment.
- Attach a 3/4 X 8 1/2″ piece of DSP to the inside left.
- Attach a 3 3/4″ X 8 5/8″ piece of Early Espresso to the front of a slimline envelope.
- Attach a 3 5/8 X 8 1/2″ piece of DSP to the Early Espresso on the envelope front.
- Done!
I’ll add a full supply list to this post once the 2022-2023 annual catalog goes live.
