I’m sharing a card today made with the Daffodil Daydreams bundle for the Stamping with Friends blog hop. And, you’ll not believe it, but it’s another card with flowers! And, yes, I do make cards without flowers, but I naturally gravitate to them!
Today’s Project – Daffodil Daydreams
I love this stamp set not only for the sweet daffodil images but also for the cute little butterfly and the two element images, especially the ‘grunge’. That stamp will get a lot of use to create interesting textures on all sorts of cards. Take a look.
I started with a Smoky Slate base and added a So Saffron panel. On top of the So Saffron, I added a Vellum layer that I embossed with the Typeworn Type 3D embossing folder. Adhesive sheets make attaching the Vellum easy.
For the focal image, I used one of the Heart & Home doilies. I didn’t like the original Basic Gray color, so I flipped it over and colored the white side using Smoky Slate and a blending brush.
Again, going for a soft image, I stamped the daffodils using Smoky Slate ink on Very Vanilla. Finally, I colored the image with Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green blends. The blends look different because of the Very Vanilla base.
Today’s Color Palette
These colors just say spring. There is still some gray from winter and the sunlight is still weak, but colors are emerging in soft yellows and pinks and the bright green of new leaves. I love to watch the garden wake up from winter!
This card cried out for ribbon. But, as I looked through the choices, nothing caught my eye. I tried the Smoky Slate Textured ribbon from the Annual Catalog, but although the color worked, it was much too wide. Then, inspiration struck! I cut the ribbon in half lengthwise and made a double bow! It frays around the edges which adds some texture to the card.
I also stamped the sentiment on Very Vanilla using Smoky Slate ink. It was die cut using a die from the Beautiful Shapes dies. I sure hope these dies carry over because they have some amazing shapes in them, including hexagons that nest to make frames!
Bling stumped me for a while until I finally decided on a single Brushed Brass Butterfly. I hope these carry over too!
Make the Inside Pretty
For the inside, I used the single daffodil image stamped in Smoky Slate on Very Vanilla and colored with Granny Apple Green and Petal Pink blends.
Don’t Forget the envelope
I was happy to find a Very Vanilla envelope in my stash because it’s the perfect companion to this card. Again, I use Smoky Slate ink and Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green Blends.
Here’s one last look at my card before I send you on your way to Linda Moore’s blog to see some more Spring & Easter inspiration. If you get lost, just make your way back here to the list of all participants. Enjoy the hop!
