I’m back today participating in another Crafty Collaborations blog hop. Today’s hop is about Furry Friends which had me stumped a bit as I don’t have a lot of animal stamps (flowers are another thing altogether). I really had to search hard in my stash for a stamp set with an animal and then I found Easter Friends. The bunny in that set is just perfect for this blog hop!
Today’ Project – Easter Friends
Isn’t this bunny just too cute for words? I love his little bow tie. The Bumblebee Gingham ribbon was just a little too wide to look good, so I cut it in half lengthwise to get a bow that looked good!
Today’s Color Scheme
The card uses shades of gray and yellow – soft colors that are found in a child’s nursery. And although this bunny could be a wild one, I chose to think of it as a child’s toy. One that the child sleeps with at night.
The card base is So Saffron followed by a layer of Basic Gray, then another layer of So Saffron with an embossed Vellum layer usingthe Timeless Type 3D embossing folder. I’m really liking how an embossed vellum layer adds some great texture to the card front.
The bunny is stamped in Smoky Slate with no coloring. The stamp itself has some great detail which coloring just covers up. I know this because I tried to color it and it looked terrible. Of course, that could be my coloring skills!
Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon and Classic Matte dots finish off the card front.
Make the Inside Pretty
I used the Basic Dies to create an accent strip in Basic Gray to trim the bottom of the Basic White panel for the inside. I hope those dies stay around for a while. They are so versatile.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
I tried something a little different on the envelope flap. Actually, it’s just a variation of other techniques I’ve used. I glued a piece of So Saffron cardstock to the envelope flap, trimming it to fit. Next came the Basic Die to put a nice stitched edge on the flap. Finally, the Timeworn Type embossing folder added subtle texture to the flap.
Here’s one last look at the card before you hop along to the next stop on the hop.
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
If you’d like to try to recreate this card, you can find a list of the products I used at the end of this post. Need a demonstrator or a catalog? Drop me a line and I’ll put one in the mail.
