Surprise! I’m back with more flowers! Today Crafty Collaborations is presenting CASE (copy and share everything) a Friend blog posts. I chose to CASE this card by Dawn Griffith. She was such an inspiration to me when I first started designing cards. And sometimes when I’m in a creative rut, I look through her gallery for inspiration which is how I found this card. I change her card by using a different color palette and Flowering Tulips instead of Brilliant Butterflies.
Today’s Project – Flowering Tulips
Of course, it’s spring and I can’t get enough flowers. And, since they aren’t growing in my garden yet, I have to make them out of paper! I love so much about this card! The DSP just pops against the Evening Evergreen base. The Pumpkin Pie and Mango Melody Tulips just pop off the page. The card itself stands up and looks great in my spring display.
The back of the card is also so pretty and there is plenty of room for a sentiment and message. I used the back of the DSP from the front to make this tulip. It makes it more artistic.
Today’s Color Palette
Normally, I don’t associate these colors with spring. But, they do remind me of the flower gardens in the Netherlands. I will never forget my trip to Keukenhof Gardens outside of Amsterdam. Millions of flowers in the most intricate patterns were everywhere. It was even more beautiful than I imagined!
Don’t forget the envelope
It’s hard to believe that this card fits into a standard envelope – but it does! I used the same DSP on the envelope flap as on the card front.

- Next, fold the two ‘strips’ on either side of the center using valley folds. It should like this image.
Assemble the card
- Add the DSP strips to the card front.
- Attach the Basic White panel to the Mango Melody panel.
- Attach the Mango Melody Panel to the card back.
- Attach the two square Mango Melody squares to the card front.
- Attach the Whisper White panel on top of the two Manog Melody panels.
Create the Tulips
First, emboss Evening Evergreen, Mango Melody, and Pumpkin Pie scraps with the Timeless Type 3D embossing folder. This gives the tulips some texture to make them seem more real. Then cut the tulip petals. I used the same dies for all of the tulips – one from Mango Melody, two from Pumpkin Pie, and one from the DSP. When assembling the tulips, I used mini dimensionals to layer the inside pieces and a glue dot to adhere the outer petals. I also use my bone folder to soften the paper fibers so that they look more realistic.
To make the greenery, cut four stems, three small leaves, and 2 large leaves from Evening Evergreen. Attach the stems first using a thin strip of dimensionals. I also used dimensionals to attach the leaves and the tulips.
My card uses the Mother’s Day sentiment from the Flowering Tulips stamp set, but any sentiment of a similar size would work just as well.
I hope you enjoyed today’s CASE. Now it’s time to see what the other Crafty Collaborators have CASED. I’m sure you’ll find lots of inspiration. So grab a beverage and enjoy the hop!
