Today the group at Crafty Collaborations is showcasing home decor items for their blog hop. Stampin’ Up! has so many great garden themed bundles this year and as you may have heard, I LOVE gardens. So, my project today is a 12 x 12 Garden Sampler that matches many elements in my garden.
Today’s Project – Garden Sampler
Instead of the usual smaller squares, I chose to do 5 vignettes, 4 the size of a quarter sheet of cardstock, and then a long, narrow one in the middle. I used a base of 12 X 12 Soft Succulent card stock. I wanted a green but one that was soft and wouldn’t overwhelm the vignettes. Each of the scenes is framed by a 1/16″ Evening Evergreen border.
Upper Left Vignette – Garden Greenhous
There is a famous English Greenhouse maker called Hartley. I wish I could have a Hartley, but failing that, I can make a paper one. This one looks so much like a Hartley, that I feel like I have one. After cramming as many flowers as possible in the greenhouse, I added even more around it. You can never have too many flowers, says someone who planted 1000 bulbs last fall!
I used the blending brushes to create the background, using Balmy Blue ink and Pacific Point for the sky and Garden Green and Evening Evergreen for the grass. The Pebbles Enamel Shapes from the New Horizon Suite made a cute little path to the greenhouse.
Upper Right Vignette – Flowering Rainboots
This vignette is similar to a card I made for a blog post here. I love this bundle because it is so much like elements in my garden. I used the TImeworn Type 3D embossing folder on the Soft Succulent base. Don’t you love how Clear Epoxy Essentials look like raindrops? Thanks to Deb Witt for pointing that out during a team meeting!
Lower Left VIgnette – Home & Garden
Next, we move on to my toolshed. This does look quite like my shed which is gray and has only a few tools, whereas mine is crammed with tools. I’ve never met a new garden tool that I didn’t have to have immediately! However, I do have multiple sets of pink gloves lying around. You can never have too many garden gloves!
LOwer Right Vignette – Welcoming Windows
Ever since I first saw this set, I wanted to do a scene with it. Although my house is more mid-century modern with big square windows, it does have a window box that I love to decorate. In spring (after the Easter Eggs are put away) with cool weather flowers and in summer with sun-loving flowers that stay until it’s time to fill it with pumpkins. I used the Brushed Brass Butterflies and Bumblebee Trinkets. I have a pollinators garden that is full of butterflies and bees all summer.
Middle Vignette – Garden Birdhouses
I used the Playful Alphabet mounted on Adhesive Foam for the letters. After coloring the middle piece to look like the sky using the Blending Brushes with Balmy Blue and Pacific Point ink, I stamped the birdhouses. I colored the birdhouses using various blends. Of course, since the sky was already colored, the blends took on some interesting hues due to the alcohol ink interacting with the background.
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
