Ready for one more card using the fabulous Gingerbread & Peppermint Suite? Today’s card comes from the ‘leftovers’ from yesterday’s card. My creative process is to have a bunch of elements laying around that I try to put together to make a card! I precut both my card base and the standard layers in each color. This allows me to experiment with different color combinations and layouts without having to stop and cut cardstock.
Today’S Project
You’ll notice that the layout is the same as yesterday’s card – 4 rectangles with a focal image. Today, I used the leftover stars from yesterday’s card. I added some acrylic shapes to the center and sentiment which tied the Cinnamon Cider stars to the red in the DSP and card base. When I first saw the acrylic shapes in the catalog, I was not impressed. Then I saw them in person- WOW! They really pack a punch. I attached them with some liquid glue, although I think a glue dot would also hold them.
The sentiment which is from the Merriest Moments stamp set was stamped in Real Red ink and attached to the front using dimensionals. Then I added a couple of acrylic shapes to make it pop.
Make the Inside Pretty
Similar to yesterday’s card, I added a Basic White panel to the inside of the card. Then, I cut out the same detailed edge piece from the DSP. You can’t really see it in the photo, but you see the flicks of Old Olive in person!
Today’s Color Combo
I love that Cinnamon Cider is so close to the real color of gingerbread. Crumb Cake works in a pinch, but I’ll always come back to Cinnamon Cider for gingerbread!
Don’t Forget the Envelope
For the front of the envelope, I added the same-sized rectangle as used on the card front. Then I topped it with the same star. Once again, I used adhesive sheets to adhere the die cuts to the star base. They make attaching intricate die cuts so easy!
For the envelope flap, I cut a piece of the same DSP as on the front, glued it to the flap, and trimmed it to fit
