Happy Hanukkah! To celebrate Crafty Collaborations is showcasing Hanukkah card ideas! I had this idea for a card when the mini catalog first came out. And then I googled and found I’m not the only one with the idea. But, I do have my own take on it! Read on to learn more about my Hanukkah Gnomes!
Today’s Project – Hanukkah Gnomes
One of the challenges about creating cards for non-Christian holidays is that Stampin’ Up! doesn’t have appropriate stamps to use. So, the gnome dies were perfect since I could make a large part of the card using Stampin’ Up! products and fill in with the sentiment and objects from my stash. I’ve collected quite a few Jewish stamps because my brother’s family is Jewish.
As you can see, my gnomes are holding traditional Hanukkah symbols. One holds gold coins, one holds the menorah which holds the candles that will be lit on each night, and the last one holds a dreidle a game that is played. I could have added a pile of gifts because the tradition is to give a gift for each night.
The DSP is a sneak peek of some new DSP called Regency Park which is available January 5th in the January – April Mini Catalog. I used the non-floral side. I just love this new paper. The floral sides are so pretty. And the non-floral sides are just as pretty.
Gnome Dies
I’m so glad these dies carried over. There are some cute gnomes in the new January-April Catalog that these work with. And, it allowed me to use them for my card. You’ll notice that I used the toadstools for the hands on my gnomes.
The dies cut out 4 gnomes from the stamp sets. They also have the individual dies to build your own gnome which I used on my gnomes. There are also cute toadstools and grass.
Today’s Color Palette
I used a traditional color scheme of a variety of blues with Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, and Tahitian Tide as the dominant colors.
Make the Inside Pretty – Hanukkah Gnomes
For the inside, I used some stamps from my stash. The sentiment refers to the number of nights that Hanukkah lasts which refers to the number of nights the oil lasted.
Don’t Forget the Envelope – Hanukkah Gnomes
For the envelope front, I stamped the dreidel three times. And, I also stamped the gold coins on the envelope flap. I’d thought about using the DSP for the envelope flap but wanted to use my rarely used stamps.
