Today I’m hopping with Stamping with Friends and the theme is Flowers!!!! Yay! I get to make floral cards. I should post pictures of my gardens so that you can see how much I really like flowers. The Hues of Happiness Suite is so perfect for this theme. I’m sure you’ll see a lot of it in this hop!
Today’s Project – Hues of Happiness
For today’s project, I made a card box and 5 cards to fill it. I got the idea from Lisa Curcio at Lisa’s Stamp Studio. You can see her project here. When I saw how cute it was, I knew I was going to make a couple of these for gifts. This one is going to a dear friend who’s having a bit of a tough time right now. And, I’m certain she will enjoy it!
This is the front of the box which uses Mint Macaron as a base, then Fresh Fresia as a mat for the Hues of Happiness DSP layer. The flowers and leaves surrounding it were all cut using the dies from Blossoming Happiness. I just love when the dies in the suite cut out some of the images from the DSP.
Make the Inside Pretty
Here you can see the inside of the box with one of the cards on top. The box is held closed with a bow tied from ribbon on the inside right and inside left. The cards hide the ribbon on the right. And to hide the ribbon on the left, I attached one of the flowers and two leaves cut from the DSP using lots of mini glue dots.
Back and Spine
For the back and spine, I used the same layers as the front. This would look so pretty sitting on a shelf after the cards have been sent!
Card #1 – Happiness
For this card, I used a Night of Navy base to match the background of the DSP which was matted with a Daffodil Delight layer. The sentiment is from the Happiness Abounds stamp set which is part of the Hues of Happiness suite. The Seasonal Labels dies are perfect for cutting out the sentiments from the Happiness Abounds stamp set. They layer beautifully with the sentiments. A Brushed Brass Butterfly finishes the front. For the inside and envelope, I used a strip of the same DSP as on the card front.
Card #2 – Friend
For this card, I used a Daffodil Delight base with a Gorgeous Grape mat for the DSP. The sentiment was stamped with Gorgeous Grape ink and cut with a die from Seasonal Labels dies. I used a yellow rose from the DSP as an accent on the card front. The inside and envelope used a strip of DSP as an accent.
Card #3 – Many Thanks
This card started with a Pool Party base and a layer of DSP matted with Night of Navy. I used NIght of Navy ink to stamp the sentiment before cutting it out with the Seasonal Labels dies. To accent the sentiment, I colored two Opal Rounds with a Dark Night of Navy Blends. You can still see the sparkle through the color! For the inside and envelope, I glued one of the cutout flowers from the DSP.
Card #4 – Happy Birthday
This card started with a Flirty Flamingo base and then a layer of Melon Mambo to mat the DSP. As with Card #2, I used a flower cut from the DSP as an accent on the card front. I put a few tiny Brushed Brass Butterflies in the flower centers to add some bling. The Melon Mambo sentiment was matted with Melon Mambo, cut with the Seasonal Labels dies and embellished with two Glossy Dots. A strip of DSP accents both the envelope and the inside.
Card #5 – Wonderful
As you can see, this card ‘matches’ the card box front. It has a Fresh Freesia base with a Gorgeous Grape mat. The sentiment was stamped with Gorgeous Grape ink, cut with a Seasonal Labels dies, and embellished with Pastel Pearls. I should have followed Coco Chanel’s advice and removed an embellishment. Six is four too many! I may fix that before delivering it to my friend.
