Crafty Collaborations, a group of demonstrators from around the world, is hosting a blog hop today to show samples from the new January – April Mini Catalog. There is so much tool love about this catalog, that I’m sure you’ll find something(s) to love in this catalog. My project uses two new stamp sets. But the star of my ‘show’ is the “Love for You” dies. Stampin’ Up is finally replenishing the word dies and I couldn’t be happier.
Today’s Project – Love for You
I CASED the layout for my card from page 8 in the mini catalog. I loved the way the DSP covered the entire front of the card followed by a solid frame, followed by a different DSP pattern. The star is the 3 loves or should I say 15 loves. Yes, I have 15 loves on the card front. I cut the die 15 times from Basic White cardstock and then glued a stack of 5 together before adding to the card front. It really gives a lot of dimension to the card!
The heart is from the Country Bouquet stamp set and is heat embossed with white embossing powder. The ‘you’ is from the Love for You stamp set and is attached using an adhesive foam strip. Those strips are perfect for a narrow sentiment, especially when you don’t want to use the edge of a dimensional sheet.
Love For You Dies
The Love for You dies have 5 words and have 5 words and various outline dies so that you can kind of mix and match them. Of course, I just wanted one word – Love. It may not be obvious from the photo but these words are BIG. Especially when you combine them with the outline dies. They make a great focal point on a card.
Love For You Stamp Set
The stamp set coordinates with the dies, so that you could stamp the sentiment and then use the background dies to cut it. There are also flowers that coordinate with the dies. Plus there’s a good variety in the sentiments so that you can use the bundle for other occasions – not just for Valentine’s Day.
Country Bouquet Stamp Set
I love this stamp set because it’s a little different. Yep, there are hearts but they’re a little wonky. And the one that isn’t wonky is flowers and leaves. I also love that there is a punch that cuts out the heart, two leaves, and the smaller heart. Plus the punch also cuts out the hearts on one of the sheets of Country Floral Lane DSP!
Country Gingham
This is pretty gingham paper in 4 colors and multiple patterns in each color which allows easy mixing and matching. And they look great when paired with the Country Floral Lane DSP below because they share same color palette.
Country Floral Lane DSP
The first thing I have to say about this DSP is that I love how one of the patterns can be punched out. the next thing is that not all patterns are about Valentine’s Day! There are red & white stripes that are kind of muted and there are those cute bicycles. Yes, there are a few hearts on there but they don’t scream Valentine. Also, there is a flower pattern that looks pretty. Finally, I like that they have blue patterns so that you can make a valentine in a non-traditional color!
Today’s Color Palette
I used the colors in the DSPs which use pretty traditional Valentine colors of red and white. Although both sets of DSP also have Blamy Blue and Mint Macaron so I might take a stab at a blue & white or green & white Valentine.
Make the Inside Pretty – Love For You
I intended to have a strip running down the left side of the inside of the card. But I put it on the wrong side. So I cut another one and made it a design feature especially since they line up just like wallpaper!
Don’t Forget the Envelope – Love For You
For the envelope, I used a strip of the Country Gingham DSP and attached it to the envelope flap.
