It’s time to show off our March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternates! We’re a little later than usual with this month’s blog hop because Stampin’ Up! had some supply issues and shipped some of the kits late. Before I get to my alternates, I want to remind you that you only have until April 10 to sign up for the April 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit.
This kit is about change and growth. And, although they don’t let us see what’s in the kit, I’m betting there are butterflies!
Today’s Projects – March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternates
I struggled with alternates this month because the kit cards were so beautiful that I didn’t think I could improve on them. Plus, I’ve only had my kit for a few days, but despite that, I’ve managed to come up with 6 alternates.
My personal rule for alternates is that I can add inks, cardstock, and dies to the kit elements. I like the challenge of staying within the kit. It really gets my creative juices flowing. Lucky for me, this kit contained a bonus stamp set. which gave me more creative options.
Today’s Color Palette
March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternate #1
The kit stamp set contained this great element stamp which I used to make a background using Calypso Coral and Pale Papaya ink. The circle element was colored using a Blending Brush. Three iridescent rhinestones finished off this card.
March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternate 2
For this alternate, I used the flower detail image from the bonus stamp set. Of course, if there’s a flower around, I’m going to use it. I used a die from my stash to frame the sentiment. Finally, I added some ribbon that is also from the kit. I’m not sure I like the way I used the ribbon. What do you think?
March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternate 3
This alternate was inspired by a tag on the flier promoting the bonus stamp set. I love the way these two images come together to create a background. I used a die from my stash to cut out the big bold Celebrate image. It was fairly easy to fussy cut the flower and pop it up on dimesionals. Finally, a bow using the ribbon from the kit finishes off the card.
March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternate 4
Remember Alternate 1 had a blue circle while the ones in the kit were orange? Well, this alternate shows how I got the blue circle! I used the backside of an orange one as a stencil to create this background. I love how this came out!
March 2022 Paper Pumpkin Alternate 5
If you look at the envelope liner, you’ll see that I cut apart another envelope to use as the background for this card. I have this stuff called UnDo and it lets you separate glued surfaces. This stuff is amazing for undoing mistakes or taking a card apart because you don’t like the colors or elements. It doesn’t work well with liquid glue unless you’re very patient and I’m not! And it wrecks anything colored with the blends. It’s one of my go-to tools.
March 2022 Paper pumpkin Alternate 6
This final alternate is the most ‘true’ to the kit. It uses the front of one of the kit cards as a layer. And the elements on the card, including the ribbon, are all from the kit as is the die-cut for the sentiment.
I just loved this kit. If I had more time, I would have easily made 20 or 30 alternates. The elements in the kit are so versatile and the card fronts that I didn’t use are similar to the New Horizons DSP. You could just add a sentiment to them and they’d look great without any other elements.
I hope you enjoyed my alternates. Now it’s time to take a look at the other inspiration and alternatives others have in store for you. So, grab a beverage or a snack or both and visit the rest of the blogs in this hop. You’re sure to find loads of inspiration.
It’s almost time for the new catalog. If you don’t have one, email me at candi@stampwithcandi.com and I’ll pop one in the mail to you. And, I might even have a surprise for you with it.
