Today I’m sharing a card I made using the New Horizons Suite from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog. I have to confess when I first saw this suite in the catalog, I was not impressed. And then, I saw Shelli Gardner (Co-Founder & Chairman of the Board) & Sara Douglass(CEO) demonstrate it at our virtual convention. Well, then it went to the top of my list.
New Horizons Suite
Take a look at what’s in it. The embellishments are pebble-shaped! How cute is that??? The sentiments are fabulous and the dies have picket fences. I have a thing for picket fences. But, the real star of this suite is the DSP. It makes it so easy to create a quick card that looks fabulous.
Crafty Collaborations
Crafty Collaborations is composed of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in multiple collaborative projects including blog hops, like this one, tutorials, and swaps to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
Today Crafty Collaborations are hopping with samples from the new January-June 2020 mini catalog which was released this week. This catalog is amazing. My wish list is a mile long. Really, I should just have a don’t want list because it would be much shorter!
Today’S Project – New Horizons
This card was so easy to make! I cut a piece of the New Horizons DSP at 5 3/8″ X 4 1/8″ and mounted it on an Evening Evergreen card base. Next, I stamped the bird images from the On the Horizon stamp set on the upper left of the DSP using Basic Gray ink. Then, I cut out the smaller picket fence in both Basic White and Basic Gray cardstock. I glued them together slightly offset to give some depth. After gluing them, I rolled them slightly and attached the middle using dimensionals and liquid glue on the ends. This gives some dimension to the card. Finally, some grass cut from Evening Everygreen cardstock was glued to the fence.
I’m not quite sure to call the ‘brick’ element from the stamp set, but I know it’s going to get a lot of use because it adds texture and dimension to the card. I inked the stamp with Soft Succulent ink, stamped off, and then stamped it on Soft Succulent card stock. Next, I stamped the sentiment on top using Evening Evergreen ink. Finally, I cut it out with the Horizon dies and attached it to the card front using dimensionals.
I finished off the card by adding the adorable Pebbles Enamel Shapes from the suite. These are so cool and so different. And, perfect for this suite.
Make The Inside Pretty
This stamp set makes decorating the inside of the card easy-peasy. Stamp the grass in Evening Evergreen, then stamp the birds hiding in the grass using Basic Gray ink stamped off.
Don’t Forget the EnveloPe
The envelope flap uses the back (non-scene) side of another piece of DSP. I just love the ‘blotchy’ color on the opposite sides of the DSP.
For the envelope front, I repeated the same steps as for the inside which made is really, really easy!
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
If you’d like to try to recreate this card, you can find a list of the products I used at the end of this post. Need a demonstrator or a catalog? Drop me a line and I’ll put one in the mail.
