Another blog hop from Crafty Collaborations, focusing on family. For my project, I chose Nothing’s Better Than Cookies. I used the same stamp set and dies that I used in this post but in a very different way.
Today’s Project – Nothing’s Better Than Cookies
You’re probably wondering what eating cookies have to do with a family blog hop. My son-in-law has memories of baking cookies with his grandmother who passed when he was only 6 years old. And he hoped that his son would have the same experience. So, one weekend when my 3-year-old grandson was staying over, we make chocolate chip cookies. He loved helping and licking the beaters.
We had so much fun, that now every time I see him I bring the supplies to bake some sort of cookies. When I walk in, he grabs the bags and looks through the ingredients to see what they are. And, then when he finds the recipe, he runs to tell his mom what we’re making.
He’s only 4 now, but he loves to read the recipe to me. I pretend I don’t remember what to do, and then he tells me. He doesn’t quite get fractions yet, but he does know the difference between a teaspoon and a tablespoon. So, baking and eating cookies is a big part of my family.
The card came together pretty quickly. The base is Very Vanilla Thick cardstock, topped with a layer of Early Espresso, and then another layer of Very Vanilla. I stamped the sentiment from Nothing’s Better Than using Early Espresso Ink and then added a few words of my own. After cutting the words out, I matted them on Early Espresso cardstock.
The base color of the cookies is Crumb Cake and the top is Early Espresso. I stacked them so that the ‘bite’ is only visible on the top cookie. I used a combination of dimensionals and glue to attach them to the front..
Today’s Color Palette
I chose the colors based on Chocolate Chip Cookie. But, they aren’t the only kind of cookies we make. I try to change it up to keep it fresh.
Make the INside Pretty
For the inside, I stamped one of the other sentiments and another cookie.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
The envelope was pretty simple, I just added another cookie!
