Today I’m sharing 5 alternatives for the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin Kit. The kit as-is makes beautiful treat boxes! The pieces are HUGE so making alternative cards was a challenge. I have to admit I was stymied at first, but then inspiration hit, and I was on a roll!
Crafty Collaborations
Crafty Collaborations is composed of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in multiple collaborative projects including blog hops, like this one, tutorials, and swaps to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
This month’s kit is so cute! It makes 3-D gift boxes with treat bags perfect for popcorn or my favorite Hershey Kisses. The images are large so making cards was a bit of a challenge! I hope you think I met the challenge!
Today’s Projects
As I mentioned, I made 5 alternatives using pieces from the kit plus a few extra supplies – card stock, ink, layering circle dies, and a sneak peek of the Flowers From Home dies in the upcoming January-June mini catalog.
Alternate #1
For this alternate, I fussy cut the snowman head and scarf from the snowman image. I used a Flirty Flamingo card base with a Real Red layer. The snowman was popped up using dimensionals. After stamping the sentiment on Basic White and cutting it using the Layering Circle dies, I matted it with a Flirty Flamingo scalloped circle cut using the same dies. It too was popped up using dimensionals.
Here’s another look at the card and the envelope. Note the sentiment is repeated on the envelope.
I used a different sentiment from the included stamp set for the inside.
Alternative #2
When I saw the ‘gift’ image, I just knew I was also going to make a birthday card! At first, I was going to have multiple candles, but since I was stamping at a retreat without my Stamparatus, I had to scrap that idea and stick with just one. I used one of the dies I had on hand to cut a ‘flame’. The Biggest Wish stamp set was perfect for the sentiment for this card. I was lucky that someone at the retreat had brought it with them! The bottom felt like it needed something, so I added a bit of greenery cut from the upcoming Flowers from Home die. You’ll see it in the new January – June mini catalog.
Here’s another view of the card with the decorated envelope which was created using the stamps from the included November 2021 Paper Pumpkin set.
For the inside of the card, I used one of the gifts from the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit I loved the stack of gifts from the kit. As you’ll see, I cut them up and made liberal use of them.
Alternative #3
For this alternative, I used the treat bag as part of the card front. I cut it into pieces and wrapped it around a piece of Real Red cardstock which I attached to an embossed Basic White layer. I also cut off the bottom of the large tree and cut it in half to finish off the card front. The sentiment comes from the included stamp set using the Flirty Flamingo ink for the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit stamped on an included die-cut.
Here’s another view of the card along with the decorated envelope which echoes the sentiment from the card front.
This view of the inside of the card shows a gift snipped from the stack of presents that are part of the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit.
Alternate #4
I had fun with this one. A friend I was crafting with was making gift tags with a 3-D tree which inspired me to try the same on this card. Since the trees from the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit weren’t symmetrical, I had to do some ‘surgery’. They matched up close enough and look cute!. I placed two gifts from the stack of gifts under the tree after fussy cutting them. I used rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestones to embellish the card front and sentiment.
The envelope front was decorated using another gift from the stack of gifts.
I used the same gift on the inside and on the envelope front.
Alternative #5
This alternate uses a tree from the November 2021 Paper Pumpkin kit with the bottom cut off with gifts from the stack of gifts under it. The Night of Navy card base makes the tree and gifts pop and the Poppy Parade card base makes the Night of Navy layer pop.
I used yet another gift from the stack of gifts to decorate the envelope.
I used the stamp from the included stamp set to decorate the inside of the card because I ran out of gifts from the stack!
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
