Today’s topic is Ombre which is a shading of color from light to dark. Stampin’ Up! has Ombre Glitter paper for the In Colors. which I thought about using but decided to make my own. I used one of Stampin’ Up!’s Delicate Details Treat Box and some inks to create an ombre effect.
Today’s Project – Delicate Details Treat Box
For this project, I used Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Shaded Spruce with blending brushes to layer color with Coastal Cabana at the top and Shaded Spruce at the bottom. This treat bag is perfect for giving little treats to friends or a neighbor whose done you a favor. I also did the same treatment on a 3″ X 6″ piece of Basic Whtie cardstock so that I could add a 3″ X 3″ card to the treat bag.
The bag has two holes to thread some ribbon through, so I used Polished Pink ribbon to match the flower from the True Beauty stamp set. After threading the ribbon through the holes in the treat bag, I threaded it through a hole in the card and tied a bow. Then I curled the edges of the ribbon with the edge of the scissors.
This image of the back of the box shows the ombre effect better than on the front. Because the front is so busy with the card and the details on the box, the ombre effect gets a little lost.
Today’s Color Palette
I used Coast Cabana, Bermuda Bay, and Shaded Spruce for my ombre effect. I think they have similar enough tones for an ombre effect. Then I picked Polished Pink for the flower on the card and Shaded Spruce for the leaes. I think these colors all work well together.
A Closer Look at the Delicate Details Treat box
This image from the Stampin’ Up! online store shows the detail on these treat boxes. I think they’d be perfect for wedding shower favors or at an afternoon tea party. Or, as I mentioned above, as a thank you to a neighbor who has done you a favor. I’m going to fill mine with chocolates from the local candy shop and give it to my friend who needs a pick me up!
They are pretty left plain white but are easy enough to color with blending brushes. It only took me a few minutes to color this one!
I hope you enjoyed my ombre project using the Delicate Details Treat Box. Now it’s time to see how other Crafty Collaborators have interpreted ombre. So, grab a beverage, sit back, and enjoy the hop!
