It’s time for Crafty Collaborations’ monthly Paper Pumpkin blog hop where we show you alternatives to making the kit as designed. The December 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit is so darn cute! Let’s take a look.
Paper Pumpkin December 2022 Kit
The image above shows the kit as designed. It makes 15 cute gift boxes. And if you are a subscriber there was an add-on product that contained coordinating card bases and envelopes.
The image above shows the finished kit as designed. Aren’t these just the cutest little boxes to hold a gift card or a treat? And the sentiments cover almost every occasion you’d need – birthday, graduation, wedding, new baby, and general congratulations. This sentiment-only stamp set will be part of my permanent stash because it is so versatile.
Today’s Project – Paper Pumpkin December 2022
Today I’m sharing 7 alternatives. I could have kept going because there are a lot of cute things you can repurpose in the kit. But, 7 should be enough to inspire you.!
Today’s Color Palette
This color palette is perfect for the variety of occasions that are covered in the kit. You have pink and blue for a new baby or school. Gray works for graduation. Or you can mix it up to express your own creativity.
Alternative #1 Paper Pumpkin December 2022
For my first alternative, I cut up one of the box wrappers. This one had a school or graduation theme. I used one of the add-on card bases in Basic Gray. If you look closely at the card base you can see the texture imprinted into the base. I topped it off with two sentiments from the kit. The kit comes with a Garden Green Stampin’ Spot, but I wanted different colors so I used Basic Gray and Sweet Sorbet. Did you notice that the Congratulations curves to match the curve of the circle? This is a trick you can do with photopolymer stamps. You can bend the a bit to achieve some interesting shapes!
Alternative #2 Paper Pumpkin December 2022
Again, this card uses the wrapper as a card element. I matted it in Crushed Curry cardstock and stamped on sentiment in Calypso Coral and the other in Sweet Sorbet. A cute bow and the stars from the kit finishes it off nicely.
Alternative #3 Paper Pumpkin December 2022
What may not be obvious when looking at the kit contents is that the boxes and their wrappers are reversible. So, after cutting up the wrapper for the school alternative, I had these scraps left over. They look good as design elements on this card. A quick sentiment and the card is done.
Alternative #4 Paper Pumpkin December 2022
On this card, I added an additional piece of paper. I embossed a Calypso Coral piece of cardstock with the Let’s Celebrate embossing folder and added it below the cut-up birthday wrapper. The sentiment is positioned between two score lines of the wrapper.
Alternative #5 Paper Pumpkin December 2022
This sweet card is perfect for a wedding. It again uses one of the wrappers as DSP. And the rest of the elements are from the kit, including the ink on the sentiment. I really tried hard with these alternatives to not use too many elements that aren’t from the kit. I think I mostly succeeded. However, without the add-on card bases and envelopes, I’d have had to use more items from my stash.
Alternative #6 Paper Pumpkin December 2022
The Happy Birthday sentiment comes as two separate words so you can use them as two lines or one. In this alternative, I mounted the Happy and Birthday in two separate lines and then randomly stamped them on the card base. Then I added a cut-up wrapper, and the sentiment stamped with Calypso Coral ink to give it some pop. I’ll let you in on a secret. I used the wrong side of the wrapper! The right side has birthday candles in various colors. But, if I hadn’t told you I made a mistake, you’d have never known!
Alternative #7 Paper Pumpkin December 2022
My favorite alternative because it has leaves and flowers. Again, I used a cut-up wrapper as a mat for the focal image which is a label included in the kit as did the flowers and leaves. Of course, it is my favorite – pink, flowers, and leaves! who would want anything else?
I hope you enjoyed my alternatives and that they inspire you to look at the December 2022 Paper Pumpin kit in a new way and to make your own alternatives. Now it’s time to see what the others have in store for you. So grab a beverage, sit back and relax, and enjoy the hop!
