Today it’s another Crafty Collaborations blog hop featuring our alternatives to the February 2022 Safari Celebration Paper Pumpkin. I have to admit that this one was a challenge for me. I just couldn’t think outside the box on this one. But I did manage 7 alternatives so I guess it wasn’t so bad.
As you can see many of my alternatives are just variations of the original. But, I’ll describe each of them in case my twist inspires you!
Paper Pumpkin February 2022 Alternative #1
For this one, I used the liner of an envelope as a layer. I must say the envelope liners have been pretty fabulous lately. Cutting them open gets more stuff to play with! I also embossed the vellum layer with the Hive 3D embossing folder for more texture. I’ve seen a couple of alternatives on the web where the monkey was holding a numeral for the birthday number. I wish I had thought of that!
Paper Pumpkin February 2022 Alternative #2
For this alternative, I also embossed the vellum layer. Except for this time, I used the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder. I really love this folder for backgrounds. It’s just enough texture without stealing the show!. My other change was to have two of the animals on the front. Some people didn’t like the animals but I think they’re really cute! Maybe that’s why I struggled with alternatives?
Paper Pumpkin February 2022 Alternative #3
For this alternative, I realized that the leaves in the kit were similar to the leaves on the Artfully Composed Designer Series paper and the stamps and dies in the Artfully Layered bundle. So I fussy cut some leaves from the DSP and I stamped some leaves using Rich Razzeberry ink and added them to the card.
Paper Pumpkin February 2022 Alternative #4
This alternative is a combination of a couple of the previous alternatives. I used the Artfully Composed DSP as a layer and I used the Hive 3D embossing folder on the vellum. Can you tell that I love to emboss vellum when it’s a layer?
Paper Pumpkin February 2022 Alternative #5
This alternative is a take on one of the alternatives from the instructions. Except, I used Soft Succulent as the card base. And, I used the inside of an envelope as the layer. Once again, I embossed the vellum layer with an embossing folder. This time I used the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder which is another one of my favorites. I also used stamped leaves from the Artfully Layered bundle. And, I cut some DSP using one of the dies from the bundle.
Paper Pumpkin February 2022 Alternative #6
For this alternative, a Fresh Freesia card base plus one of the card bases from the set form the bases of the card. Then I layered some of the DSP on top followed by stamped leaves from the Artfully Layered bundle. Oh, and peaking out from underneath the jungle is a vellum layer embossed using the Hive 3D embossing folder.
Paper Pumpkin February 2022 Alternative #7
This alternative gets most of its elements from the kit. I cut up one of the cards to use as a layer on the Rich Razzleberry card base. Once again, I embossed the vellum layer. And, I also used some of the Faux Sea Glass shapes. I am in love with these and the Pebbles Enamel Shapes. So very different from any other embellishments!
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
