Crafty Collaborations is hopping today featuring alternates to the October Paper Pumpkin 2022. One of my favorite monthly activities is seeing what I can make with supplies in the kit. But, Stampin’ Up! is making it hard because the kit itself is so cute! For me, Paper Pumpkin is a creative challenge. What can I make with the kit plus a few extra supplies? When you have a lot of supplies you can get paralyzed by the choices. Using Paper Pumpkin as a starting point makes it easier to be creative.
I also like Paper Pumpkin and other kits for when I travel, especially on business. I need a creative escape after working all day and the kits make it easy. No need to bring a lot of supplies because pretty much everything I need is in the kit!
Today’s Projects – Paper Pumpkin October 2022
I just love this October Paper Pumpkin 2022 kit! The alternates pretty much made themselves. I know I could have made many more alternates, but I stopped at 8 due to time constraints. For example, the frames could be used to make a shaker card.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 Ho Ho Ho Kit
The kit makes 9 cards as shown above. And they are such cute cards. I would be happy to get any of these in the mail. So why make alternates? To stretch my creativity, of course!
Kit Contents
Look at all these goodies! Iridescent stars, cute stamps, and elements that can be used as stencils make this kit easy to modify! The Santa stamp and the sentiments are perfect for this Christmas season. As you’ll see below, I did a bit of stenciling. But, as I’m writing this, I realized I could have used a snowflake as a stencil, too. See – so much creativity.
Today’s Color Palette
I love this mostly traditional color palette with the reds and browns, but with a pop of blue-green with Bermuda Bay. There’s something about Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, and Pool Party that give a retro 50s vibe to a card.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 – Alternate #1
Card
When I saw the envelope lined with this striped paper, I knew I had my first alternate! I took apart the envelope by heating it with my heat tool and then slowly separated the layers. Once separated I cut it into a 5 1/4″ X 4″ panel which I mounted on a Sweet Sorbet card base. The letters from the kit were used for the focal point. Finally 3 Sweet Sorbet Matte Dots finish off the card.
Inside
I used another strip from the envelope liner for the inside.
Envelope
For the envelope, I added a strip from the kit. I wanted a strip that would go the entire width but then decided this would be perfect and it makes the envelope slightly different from the inside.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 – Alternate #2
Card
I was inspired by another alternate I had seen. So, I used one of the included elements as a stencil by using a blending brush to apply Bermuda Bay ink. Then I also brushed along the edge to form a border that anchors the snowflakes. I love the way the rhinestones at the center of each flake make the card so sparkly. For the sentiment, I stamped the ‘Merry’ from the included stamp set on a piece of Basic White cardstock and then fussy cut it before attaching it to the card using mini-dimensionals. Then I did the same with the ‘Christmas’ sentiment. Of course, it was easier to fussy cut since it had all straight lines.
Envelope
For the envelope, I stamped the snowflake image randomly on a Basic White envelope.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 – Alternate #3
Card
This alternate was inspired by the previous card. I used the same card element as the stencil and changed the color palette. I used a dauber to apply the Basic White Craft ink This is a pigment ink and takes longer to dry. You can speed it up using a heat tool to dry it. I used Red Rhinestones in the center of each snowflake and used Real Red ink for the sentiments.
Envelope
For the envelope, I stamped the ‘Merry’ sentiment down the side of a Basic White envelope using Real Red ink.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 – Alternate #4
Card
The border on this card is from one of the envelopes! I cut it from the envelope and then applied Snowfall Accents Puff Paint to the center of the snowflakes. Once it was heat set using the heat tool, it puffs up and adds an interesting element to the card!
For the sentiment, I used White Embossing powder on Crumb Cake. Again, I fussy cut the elements of the sentiment. I’m finding that the more I fussy cut, the better I get! Funny how that works.
I used a Cherry Cobbler blend to color some Rhinestones to put in the center of the snowflakes.
Inside
For the inside of this card, I used Versamark ink and White embossing powder. Tip: Don’t forget to use the embossing buddy on the surface to be embossed so that you don’t get any stray specs.
Envelope
I’m really liking the way stamping down the side of the envelope looks. I used it a lot for my alternates. Again, I stamped it with Versamark ink, sprinkled it with Basic White embossing powder, and then heat set it.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 – Alternate #5
Card
the base for this card is included in the kit. I made a background using the snowflake from the included stamp set. The sentiment elements are all from the kit although I used Cherry Cobbler for the stamping instead of Early Espresso. After stamping Santa and the reindeer, they didn’t seem grounded. So, I used Stitched Rectangle dies to create a frame. I love the way it looks!
Inside
Following through with the Santa theme, I stamped the Ho Ho Ho from the included stamp set using Cherry Cobbler ink.
Envelope
For the envelope, I used the same Ho Ho Ho stamp as for the inside and stamped it multiple times down the left edge.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 – Alternate #6
Card
More stenciling on this card! I used one of the card elements and included Early Espresso ink to create the background on the card front. I framed the stenciling using strips of Early Espresso cardstock which were trimmed with a strip from an envelope. Then I added the cute Santas using dimensionals. Finally, I stamped the sentiment at the top of the card.
Inside
The sentiment is from the included stamp set. This stamp set has a lot of cute sentiments. I think I used every stamp from the set in making my alternates.
Envelope
Hard to believe this is the envelope, isn’t it? It looks more like a card. Basically, I copied the card to the envelope front minus the Santas and sentiment.
Paper Pumpkin 2022 – Alternate #7
Card
Look at this. I used one of the elements from the kit as it was meant to be used! It fits perfectly between the top and bottom stripes on the card front. The rest of the elements on this card are directly from the kit. This is just a little bit different layout than the suggested cards.
Inside
Of course, the inside is decorated! It has a sentiment stamped with Cherry Cobbler and added a strip that is one of the elements included in the kit to the bottom.
Envelope
I took a Basic White envelope and added a strip from a cut-up envelope and some snowflakes. Sadly, this card can’t be mailed as the snowflakes would be damaged in transit.
PAPER PUMPKIN 2022 – ALTERNATE #8
Card
This card was inspired by one of the cards in the kit. I was going for a clean and simple look. DidI nail it? Let me know in the comments.
I used the Stylish Shapes dies to create a frame for Santa to be in. The Ho Ho Ho was included in the kit and is mounted on vellum. I framed the focal panel with a thin margin of Cherry Cobbler. I think this framing really sets of the focal panel without overpowering the card.
Inside
Santa on the front, mean ‘Santa Clause is coming to town’ on the inside!
Envelope
Again, I stamped the sentiment multiple times along the left edge of the envelope. I’m really liking how that looks and will probably include it in future projects.
I hope you enjoyed my alternates and that you are inspired to make a few of your own! But now it’s time to see more! So, grab a beverage, sit back and relax, and enjoy the hop!
