Crafty Collaborations
Crafty Collaborations is composed of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in multiple collaborative projects including blog hops, like this one, tutorials, and swaps to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
Today our theme is to make 2 versions of a card. One is #SimpleStamping uses only ink paper and embellishments. The second is stepped up – make it as fancy as you want. You’re sure to find a lot of inspiration today! My cards were inspired by some new friends I met at a creative retreat I attended a few weeks ago. They asked to borrow my stamp set to play around with. Obviously, I loved what they did with it!
Today’s Projects
The sample on the bottom is my simple version. It uses the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set, Very Vanilla cardstock, Cinnamon Cider ink, and Elegant Faceted Gems.
The sample on the top is my stepped-up version. It uses the same stamp set, ink, embellishments, and paper, Then it adds in die cuts, heat embossing, and coloring with blends.
Let’s look at each card in detail.
The pumpkin does all the work on this card. Its pattern stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink makes it the focal point for the front. The sentiment from the same set was also stamped using Cinnamon Cider Ink. They were both stamped on a 5 1/4″ X 4″ panel. Then the panel was attached to the card base using dimensionals. Finally, I attached 3 Elegant Gems to the card front.
First, I stamped the pumpkin on a piece of scrap with Cinnamon Cider ink. Next, I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder, Then I heat embossed it. Finally, I cut it out with Detailed Pumpkin dies. I did the same thing for the leaves peeking out from the side of the pumpkins. However, I finished those leaves by coloring them with the Cinnamon Cider blends.
The pumpkin on the left was cut using the Detailed Pumpkin dies and Simple Elegant DSP. I wanted to give it some dimension and that paper did the trick! The pumpkin on the right was cut using the Detailed Pumpkin dies and the gold Brushed Metalic paper.
To assemble the card, I attached the leaves and pumpkins to a 5 1/4″ X 4″ panel of Very Vanilla. I filled in the space on the upper right by stamping the greeting using Cinnamon Cider ink. After attaching the panel to the card front, I added 3 of the Elegant Faceted Gems.
Today’s Color Palette
Make the Inside Pretty
In keeping with the Clean & Simple theme of the first card, I stamped one of the leaf images in Cinnamon Cider ink on the inside.
The inside of the second card is really stepped up! First I stamped the two-leaf image twice in Cinnamon Cider ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I added a sentiment stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink. Finally, 3 Elegant faceted gems were added.
Dont Forget the envelope
In keeping with the Clean and Simple look, the envelope for the first card has the smaller leaf stamped twice on the flap using Cinnamon Cider ink.
For the stepped-up card, I heat embossed the larger leaves on the envelope flap using Cinnamon Cider ink and clear embossing powder.
Finally, here’s one last look at each card. I really can’t choose a favorite. They are both very pretty with a definite fall vibe!
In this view of the card, you can see how popping up the panel with dimensionals really adds some depth to this simple card.
This view of the stepped-up card really highlights how much dimension there is. The popped-up panel and pumpkins really give it a lot of dimension.
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
