Today’s theme from Crafty Collaborations is TV & Movies. I was stumped until I saw Pure Magic and the dragon! Can you guess what TV show or movie inspired my card? Read on for the answer.
Today’s Project – Pure Magic
I chose a Twisted Gate fold card that I found on Pinterest. Tracing it down to its source it’s from Dawn Olchefske at DoStamping.typepad.com.
This fold is easier than it looks and fits into a medium envelope! Start with a piece of 4 1/4″ X 7 1/2″. Score at 2 1/2″ and 5″. Then score along the diagonal as shown above. Fold the diagonal score lines as mountains and the straight score lines as valleys.
For the DSP, take four pieces cut at 1 3/8″ X 4 1/8″. Cut the front pieces starting at the upper-left corner to the bottom right corner. Cut the back pieces starting from the upper right corner to the lower-left corner. Attach the DSP using liquid glue as it gives you some wiggle room to adjust.
Today’s Color Palette
I knew I wanted a blue dragon and Stampin’ Up! has some great blues with the new In Colors. After stamping the dragon with Night of Navy, I colored her with Tahitian Tide Light and Dark Blends and Dark Balmy Blue Blends.
For the card base, I used Tahitian Tide. And for the DSP I used the Starry Sky In Color DSP to represent the sky the dragon flies against and Sweet Sorbet In Color DSP to represent the flames the dragon breathes.
Make the Inside Pretty
My dilemma with this card was what to use as a sentiment. And then I found the sentiment from Paradise Palms – Wishing You a Warm and Beachy Kind of Day. After stamping it using Sweet Sorbet ink, I did a little surgery on it by cutting it into 3 pieces and mounting the pieces using a Foam Adhesive Street. It now says – Wishing You a Warm Kind of Day. Appropriate coming from a firebreathing dragon, don’t you think?
Since this design didn’t really have a place to write a message, I added a Basic White panel to the back.
Don’t Forget the envelope
One of my usual treatments of lining the envelope flap with some DSP from the card was perfect for this card!
I hope you enjoyed my TV-inspired card! Have you guessed what inspired it? Game of Thrones! Lots of dragons in that show!
Now it’s time to see what the others have in store for you. You’re sure to see some clever & amazing projects. So, sit back, grab a beverage and enjoy the hop.
