This was an amazing kit. So many pieces! And so many ways to use all of the pieces. This post showcase a few of the alternates I made from this month’s kit! First, check out the contents.
The kit is designed to make cracker boxes which are tubes that contain goodies. You pull them apart to get at the treats. These were designed to be decorated for either Halloween or Thanksgiving. The kit contained 20 of these boxes plus enough embellishments to decorate them all either way. The included stamp set is adorable for making fall cards and the ink is one of my favorite fall colors – Cajun Craze. I love its red/brown tones! There were so many embellishments that I had to put them in little containers to keep from sweeping them onto the floor with my arm!
Here’s a collage of some of the cards I made. There were too many to fit in one photo, so I’m only showcasing my faves!
On the left side you can see the two made as is cracker boxes. The rest are just alternates made with supplies from the kit and cardstock from my stash. In the next sections, I’ll describe what I did for each card.
September Paper Pumpkin Alternate #1
This is my favorite. I took one of the crackers and cut it apart to make the leaves of the flower. Then I topped it with one of the die-cut flowers from the kit. I stamped the flowers from the included stamp set all over a Whisper White layer in Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, and Terracotta Tile to create a background. The sentiment is from the Beautiful Friendship Stamp Set. I used the dies from Forever Flourishing dies to tuck some greenery behind my flower. I just love this came out!
SEPTEMBER PAPER PUMPKIN ALTERNATE #2
The ‘pumpkin’ in this card was made from the cut out from the crackers. It’s hard to see, but the crackers have diamond shaped cut outs at each end to allow the ribbon to be tied around them. I loved playing with them! And in this case, i used them to make this pumpkin. I also use one of the cracker sides to create the background for the sentiment.
SEPTEMBER PAPER PUMPKIN ALTERNATE #3
The little bow ties were made from the area around where the diamond shaped cut out were. When I was punching out the shapes, I was struck with how much what remained looked like bow ties! I punched a circle out of Mossy Meadow using a retired punch. The sentiment was mounted on one of the side panels from the cracker. The accent strip was also from one of the crackers. If you look very closely, you can see the fold lines!
sEPTEMBER PAPER PUMPKIN ALTERNATE #4
I’m pretty pleased with this card too! I took the diamond punch outs and laid them in a pattern on a Basic Black layer leaving the space between them about the same width as the twine that came with the kit. Then I added some twine and mounted it on a Cinnamon Cider card base. I used the dies from Hippo & Friends for the sentiment and the frame. The curly-cue below it is one of the die cuts from the kit.
EPTEMBER PAPER PUMPKIN ALTERNATE #5
This wreath is built on one of the Gold Hoops from the Forever Greenery Suite. I used it to give the wreath dimension. Then I layer on curly-cues, leaves and flowers from the kit. I used pumpkin die cuts from the kit as an accent. The flowers are topped with a gilded gem. The sentiment is from the kit and stamped with Cajun Craze from the kit.
SEPTEMBER PAPER PUMPKIN ALTERNATE #6
This last card uses the die-cut pumpkin with the face from the stamp set stamped on it in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. The witches hat and curly-cues are also from the kit. The dies from So Sweetly Stiched dies were used to cut the contrasting backing for the sentiment. The piece that the sentiment is stamped on is from the kit. I sponged a Whisper White piece with Pumpkin Pie Ink to give it a more Halloweeny look! The accent strip was embossed using the Tasteful Textures embossing folder. That is my new favorite folder to give some texture to a card!
