Today I am featuring a sneak peek of the Sweet Talk Suite from the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog, available for customers on January 4, 2022. The suite features the Sweet Conversations stamp set, the Sweet Talk dies, the Gingham Embossing Folder, Sweet Little Boxes, Iridescent Rhinestones, Real Red ribbon, and the Sweet Talk Designer Series Paper. The products are all sold separately with the stamp set and dies also available as a bundle for a 10% discount. I love every element in this suite so I bought the suite. What will you buy?
This suite is the perfect suite for creating cute Valentine’s Day cards. The little hearts cut from the dies are adorable and there are 4 dies so you can cut multiples at once! I love when Stampin’ Up! does this. And the DSP is one of my favorites in the new mini. The heart patterns are so cute and some of the flip sides are neutral enough for other seasons as you’ll see on the card front with the purple lines.
Crafty Collaborations
Crafty Collaborations is composed of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world. Each month we participate in multiple collaborative projects including blog hops, like this one, tutorials, and swaps to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.
Today’s Sketch
I love sketch challenges! They give me a framework for creating and getting my creative juices flowing. This one is a little interesting because of the way the layers interact. I had fun with it as you’ll see below.
Today’s Project
The focal point of the card front uses layering circles to cut out two circles. The first circle is cut from the Sweet Talk DSP which is part of the Suite Talk Suite. The second circle is a Real Red mat. Two hearts and the two sentiments finish off the focal point. I really wanted to use the small banner that is part of the Sweet Hearts dies so I went through my stash to find sentiments that fit! The Hello is from Free as a Bird and the Friend is from Forever Blossoms.
I started with a Real Red base which I attached a Highland Heather panel embossed with the Gingham embossing folder which is also part of the Sweet Talk Suite. I love the pattern on this folder so much, that I also used it to emboss the hearts on the card front! Just look at that texture!
Although the sketch had the ‘dots’ in a straight line, I took some liberty and put them on the diagonal.
TIP: I find that embossed cardstock adheres better when using liquid glue. It gets into the nooks and crannies a little better than Seal does. So, I always use it when adhering to embossed cardstock.
Today’s Color Theme
It’s an unconventional color theme to use red and purple together. But, on this card, it just works!
Make the Inside Pretty
A strip of DSP with thin strips of Rea Red on the top and bottom really gives the inside some pizzazz as does the thin border of Highland Heather.
The Faux Linen Real Red ribbon is a dream to work with and ties such beautiful bows. It’s unusual to put a bow on the inside of a card, but I needed something to make the sentiment pop. And, the bottom treatment is so pretty that just adding the sentiment took away from it and made the sentiment seem weak and much too plain! So, I stamped the sentiment from the Sweet Conversations stamp set on the tag that is part of the Sweet Hearts dies and topped it with a bow. Now the sentiment and the DSP are in balance. Both the Sweet Conversations stamp set and the Sweet Hearts dies are part of the Sweet Talk Suite.
As you can see, I went all out on the inside of this card. It’s almost like a card front!
Don’t Forget the Envelope
The DSP from the front of the card dresses up both the envelope front and the envelope flap. And, the strip on the front is extra wide and goes the entire height of the envelope.
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
If you’d like to try to recreate this card, you can find a list of the products I used at the end of this post. Need a demonstrator or a catalog? Drop me a line and I’ll put one in the mail.
