Today the demonstrators from Crafty Collaborations are showcasing cards In Memoriam. These cards can be for a national holiday such as Veteran’s Day or Remembrance Day or general sympathy cards. Since this is fall, I chose to use the Soft Seedlings stamp set. Let’s see what I did.
ToDay’s Project – Soft Seedlings
To color the stamp, I used sponge daubers adding colors as I thought they’d look in nature. After cutting the image with the largest square from the Stylish Shapes die, I mounted it on a Copper Foil mat.
The card base is Thick Very Vanilla which is perfect for fall I tend not to use it much and then when I do use it, I wonder why I don’t use it more often. Does that happen to you? Copper Foil embossed with the gorgeous 3D Leaf Fall embossing folder makes the perfect topper on the card base.
After embossing the sentiment with Copper Embossing powder, I fussy cut it because I wanted something more organic than a square or rectangle image.
Today’s Color Palette
I chose the colors of fall for this card – the dark red of Cherry Cobbler, the saturated yellow of Crushed Curry, the bright orange of Pumpkin Pie and the reddish brown of Cajun Craze are my go-to fall colors. I also wanted a green and chose Pear Pizzazz because I didn’t want it to shine. It’s just an accent and I think it works.
Soft Seedlings
When I first saw this stamp set I wasn’t that impressed. I liked the fonts on the sentiments so I bought it. And after seeing a few samples and playing with it myself, I can honestly say it’s one of my favorites. So many looks different looks are possible depending on how you ink it!
Make the Inside Pretty
I added an inside sentiment that I embossed with Copper Embossing powder. Then I added two thin Copper Foil strips to the top and bottom.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
It’s hard to see in the image, but there’s a thin strip of Copper Foil on the side of the front of the envelope that mirrors the strips on the inside.
