I’m hopping today withStamping with Friends a group of international demonstrators. we hop on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Today’s hop is about stand alone dies. What are stand alone dies? They’re dies that aren’t paired with a stamp set. Instead, these dies can work with any stamp set. I’m showing Split Card Textures.
Today’s Project – Split Card Textures
Of ourse, I have another Christmas card because why not? WhenI saw this design in red at a stamping retreat, I loved it so much I asked Lisa Lang if I could copy it! By using a different color palette and different embellishments, it’s not quite a copy but a CASE.
As you can see the Split Card Texture die is the star of this card. I love the look of the Basic White against the Garden Green. This die adds so much interest to the card. You’ll also notice that I have used another stand alone die set – Layering Circles which another workhorse die set. I hope both of these dies are around for a very long time.
Split Card Texture Dies
Layering Circles Dies
Not much to say here, because these are long time work horse. I love the there are so many and that there are scalloped and plain cirlces. They allow so many creative choices. As you can see on my card, I used the a plain circle to cut the White Glimmer paper and a slightly larger scallope circle to cut the Garden Green paper. I love th bit of green poking out from the edge of the glimmer paper!
Today’s Color Palette
Have you ever seen a green candy cane? I have. Yes, red and white or red, white, and green are more traidtional. But what’s makes this card so striking is it’s monochromatic. So, instead of red, I used green. And I think it works!
Make the Inside Pretty
For the inside, I stamped the candy cane in Garden Green. I was going to add some ribbon, but it didn’t look quite right. Too much going on, and you do need a space to write something!
Don’t Forget the Envelope
I repeated the same candy cane on the envelope. If I thought I was going to hand deliver this card, I would have added some glimmer paper and sequins. But since this card will mostly likely be mailed, I kep it simple. Sequins on the envelope would not hold up in the mail!
You Can Make It, Too! – Split Card Textures
This card is pretty easy an quick to make multiples of assuming you use the Stamparatus to do the stamping. The Stamparatus lets you stamp the same image multiple times which is key to getting the gorgeous candy canes.
