Sunny Splash for a Color Challenge

Today I’m participating in the Stamping with Friends blog hop a group of demonstrators from around the world who love to share creative inspirations with their blog readers. Today we have a color challenge to make a card or project using Pacific Point, Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide, and Mango Melody. These colors scream summer to me! And the new stamp set Sunny Splash does too!

Today’s Project – Sunny Splash

I started with a Basic White Thick card base followed by a Pacific Point layer and topped with a Basic White layer that I embossed with the Into the Cards embossing folder for some texture.

Next, came the swimsuits. I love these retro swimsuits. They look just like the suits I wore as a child! I stamped each suit with one of the colors in the challenge – Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide, and Mango Melody. Before attaching them to the card front using Dimensionals, I matted them with a thin Pacific Point layer.

Finally, it was time for sentiment. This set has some great sentiments, but I had to choose one that fit my design. After stamping it with Pacific Point, I matted it with Pacific Point and then attached it to the card front with Dimensionals. I wanted some bling so I used 6 Fine Sparkle Adhesive Backed Gems. These are a sneak peek from the upcoming July – January 2022 Mini Catalog which debuts on July 2. I can’t wait for it because there are some awesome new products.

Today’s Color Palette

So Color challenges always challenge me! I love sketch challenges and theme challenges but color challenges stump me. So I was really happy when I realized these were summer colors because now it’s a theme challenge and the ideas just flowed!

I rarely use Pacific Point. It’s perfect for 4th of July but doesn’t seem to work for me for other cards. But it works well here for anchoring color for the design.

I used my blue Replica Surfaces for my pictures to give the images a pool vibe.

Today’s Stamp Set – Sunny Splash

This was one of my first purchases from the 2022 – 2023 Annual Catalog. There was something about the retro feel of the images and the sentiments that just called out to me.

Make the Inside Pretty

Since there are 4 images in the stamp set and 4 colors in the challenge but only room for 3 images in my design, I used the remaining suit and color on the inside.

Don’t forget the Envelope

I used the same reasoning for the envelope as I did for the inside.
