Today I’m sharing some Sweet Little Boxes for the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop. Today’s hop features Valentine projects. My grandson loves M&Ms, so when I saw these boxes, I knew I was going to make him some treats!
Today’s Project – Sweet Little Boxes
I was happy to find Valentine M & Ms in the store. And, I knew that if I didn’t use most of them for this project, I’d be eating them. So, although 3 boxes are too many M& M’s for him, I hope he’ll share them with his Mom & Dad. I also had to be careful not to make them too girly because he’s a four-year-old boy and is starting to figure out that there’s a difference between boys and girls!

I CASED this box from the catalog, using different paper and a different ribbon, but the idea is the same. I loved the idea of the boxes as shakers and that you get a peek at what’s inside. TIP: To cust through the box and the DSP, make multiple passes through the Cut N Emboss.
Initially, I hadn’t planned on a bow. But, there’s a little OOPS underneath it. So, I chose the Pool Party Sheer Ribbon because it’s his mom’s favorite color.
For this box, I used one sheet of DSP wrapping it around the side and cutting out what I didn’t need.

For this box, I didn’t want to use DSP. But, the stark white was too much white. So I used a blending brush and Real Red ink to color the top of the box. I also didn’t want a uniform color because I think the variations in color give it a more casual look.
Again, because he’s a boy, I didn’t want pink for the hearts. So, I used Pool Party & Night of Navy cardstock to cut out all the hearts and Night of Navy for the envelope. After they were on the card, I thought it needed some bling. So, Real Red rhinestones to the rescue. The twine is from the Flowers for Every Season combo pack in the Annual Catalog. Finally, I couldn’t resist the UR Cute heart because he is!
Sweet LIttle Boxes CloseUp #3
When I first started thinking about these boxes, I knew I wanted to use the Gumball shaker domes on one of them. It’s really hard to photograph because the light reflects off the dome.
The shaker domes leave some adhesive exposed so that the gumball machine can attach to them. I made this so that all the extra adhesive was at the top and then I topped it off with the top from the gumball machine. TIP: If you’re going to try this, make sure the die-cut is in the dead center of the box because the shaker barely fits!
For this box, I covered each side with DSP without trying to match it to the adjacent pieces. I have to say that this is my favorite of the three!
