Today’s Project
Today’s project uses Timeless Tropical to relive one of my most favorite vacations – Hawaii. It was so many years ago, yet is still vivid in my memories. Everything was perfect – the weather, the temperature, the food, the sights, & the people! Here’s the card I created.
Despite all the supplies I used, this card came together pretty quickly. I cut a 2 3/4″ X 2 3/4″ square from a 4 3/4″ X 3 1/2″ piece of Basic White cardstock to look like the old polaroid camera frames.
I used the Blending Brushes to create the sun, sand, sea & sky. The trick to using the brushes is to rub them in a circular motion starting off the paper you’re coloring. This prevents blotchy splots. To create the sun cut a circle from a piece of scrap. Temporarily affix the circle to the sky area while coloring the sky. Then, use the scrap with the hole to mask the sky while coloring the sun.
The Tasteful Textile Embossing folder adds some very nice texture to the card front. Without it, the card looks flat.
To color the stamps, I used Stampin’ Write markers. It’s the easiest way to get multiple colors on a rubber stamp. Although you can use them on the photopolymer stamps, they really work well on the rubber stamps. To get some depth of color, I used two different colors on the tree trunks & leaves and on the flower. Lightly spritzing them with water before stamping them on Fluid 100 watercolor paper softened the edges a bit, like a slightly faded photograph.
I finished off the card by coloring some of the 2021-2023 In Color Jewels to match the colors on the card. A Dark Daffodil Delight Blend transformed the Pale Papaya jeweles as did the Dark Melon Mambo on the Polished Pink jewels.
Make the Inside Pretty
I had an extra set of palm trees cut out because I wasn’t sure how many I would want on the card front. They worked perfectly on the inside!
Don’t Forget the Envelope
I also had an extra flower hanging around. Putting it on the envelope flap seemed only logical!
Here’s one more look at the card and the elements I used.
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
If you’d like to try to recreate this card, you can find a list of the products I used at the end of this post. Need a demonstrator or a catalog? Drop me a line and I’ll put one in the mail.
