Stamping with Friends an international group of Stampin’ Up! demos is featuring Christmas cards today. My project uses the Twinkling Lights dies from the July – December Mini Catalog.
Today’s Project – Twinkling Lights
I have to admit this card was REALLY hard to photograph. I couldn’t seem to get it to have enough light without getting MY reflection in it! YOu’ll have to take my word for it that this card is stunning in person!
It’s actually a very simple card to make and may be my personal Christmas Card this year. It’s a few simple layers and an easy to do die cut embellished with silver pearls. Step by step directions can be found near the end of this post.
TIP: To save the gorgeous silve paper, cut the tree out of the silver panel before adding it to the card front. It’ll get covered by the Basic Black layer and no one will ever know!
Today’s Color Palette
Except for the Basic White liner on the inside for your personal message, there are only two colors – Basic Black and Silver Foil. But not just shiny Silver Foil. This foil has texture and is dark. It’s really very pretty!
Twinkling Lights
The Twinkling Lightsdies are very pretty. The tree dies can be used in 3 way. The outline die can cut out a stamped image from the Christmas Lights stamp set. It can also cut out the tree die from this die set. And the tree die can be used as a focal point embedded into the cardstock. The large snowflake die can be used similarly. So, if you don’t like the stamp set, these dies are perfect as stand alone dies.
Silver Foil Specialty Paper
I was thrilled when this Silver Foil Specialty Paper carred over because you get 3 different finishes. One is the traditional silver foil that we all love. Another is a lighter silver with visible brushstrokes. And the final one which I used on this card, is a dark silver with visible brushstorkes. The variety in the paper makes for variety in your cards!
Make the Inside Pretty
The Twinkling Lights dies are part of a larger suite that includes the Christmas Lights stamp set and the Brightest Glow bundle. The Brightest Glow stamp set is a collection of Christmas sentiments that work on both the front and inside of a card. I love when Stampin’ Up! does this kind of mega suite. With this one suite you have so many options for your cards! Anyway, I used the sentiment from Brightest Glow stamp set embossed with silver embossing folder for the inside of the card. I added as strip of the DSP to the top and bottom of the liner and there’s still plenty of room for a personal message.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
I wanted a simple, elegant envelope to match the card. And, although the silver foil on the envelope flap or as an envelope liner would have looked amazing, I didn’t want to use that much paper. So I just added a strip to the left hand side of the envelope.
You Can Make It, Too! Twinkling Lights
This card comes together very quickly. The full list of supplies can be found at the end of this post.
