For today’s hop, we are using the free downloadable image file ‘United Through Creativity’ from Stampin’ Up!® You can download the file here.
Today’s Project
There were so many interesting images and phrases in the download that I had trouble deciding which one to use! But, in the end, the wine, bread, and cheese image made me think of my time in France and was a natural choice.
I colored the image using Stampin’ Blends – So Saffron, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Granny Apple Green, Highland Heather, Rich Razzleberry. I have to admit, I never get tired of coloring with the Blends because they blend so easily and you can make your own colors by combining them.
The card base is Gorgeous Grape topped off with a Highland Heather panel that was embossed with the ‘Hello” embossing folder from the ‘Hello & Thanks’ embossing folder duo. I picked it for both its texture and its appropriateness. The words are in multiple languages. Here’s a close-up to show you what I mean.
Today’s Color Palette
I think I was in a monochromatic purple state of mind! I have to admit that purple color combos have been my favorite since I was a kid. I remember my friend and I would make clothes for our paper dolls and mine were mostly purples and pinks! I’m glad SU has such pretty purples.
Make the Inside Pretty & Don’t Forget the envelope
I think making the inside pretty and also decorating the envelope are important because they make a package. NOw, I’ll admit that when I’m in a hurry, I sometimes don’t, but mostly I do. However, for this card, I was stumped. I didn’t want to repeat the image because that would lessen its impact. And the other images in the download really didn’t fit. And then I remembered the embossing folder. So I used the embossing folder on the envelope flap and the inside panel. Take a look.
When I first embossed the envelope, it looked good but was a little blah. So I pulled out the new Soft Pastels and rubbed the Gorgeous Grape one over the embossing.
Then, I was worried about the dust getting all over the recipient’s hands, so I buffed them with a tissue. This spread the color onto the background in a paler shade. I rather like how it turned out! Here’s one last look at my card.
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
