Stampin’ Up!’s Word Wishes dies are a great set to have. on hand Not only do they have phrases for almost every holiday (including St. Patrick’s Day), but they make a great focal point on a card front. Add a little DSP and some embellishments and POOF! you’ve got a cute card! I also used the Stitched Be Mine Dies. You can probably tell that I love that little heart!
I sometimes have trouble using DSP that’s a little busy, like this. But, I think the sentiment and the hearts go well with it. What do you think?
Here’s a close up of the card, to let you judge whether it works!
You Can Make IT, Too!
Word Wishes Happy Valentine’s Day
Instructions
- Fold a 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock in half. Crease with a bone folder to get a nice crease.
- Attach a 1/2" X 4 1/4" piece of From My Heart DSP to the inside of the card. Make sure to get a pretty part of the pattern in that half inch. (I didn't the first time. YUCK!)
- Attach a 6" X 2 1/4" piece of From My Heart DSP to the envelope flap using Tombow multipurpose liquid glue. Trim to fit.
- Cut a 5 1/4" X 4" piece of Real Red cardstock.
- Cut a 5 1/16" X 3 13/16" piece of From My Heart DSP.
- Attach the DSP to the Real Red cardstock layer.
- Attach the Real Red cardstock layer to the card front.
- Using your favorite die-cutting machine, cut out the 'Happy Valentine's Day' dies using Real Red cardstock.
- Attach the die cuts to the card front using Tombow multipurpose glue. Or, if you have a Xyron, that would work.
- Cut out 3 hearts from the Stitched Be Mine dies using the From My Hearts DSP.
- Attach the hearts to the card front using Dimensionals.
Make the Inside Pretty
I went for a pretty simple inside because there is so much going on on the front! I just cut a strip of the From My Heart DSP and attached it to the bottom of the inside. Just make sure you get a pretty part of the pattern. Getting just the arrow shafts looks pretty bad. (Don’t ask me how I know!) Here’s how mine looks.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
I carried the From My Heart DSP through to the envelope too! Sometimes I use the envelope liner die from the Beautiful Layer dies. But, other times, I do the flap. Just make sure that the DSP is securely fastened to the flap. You don’t want the postal machines to tear it off!
Here’s a picture of the card and envelope together. What do you think? Please leave me a comment if you liked the card or have any questions.
