Todays Project – Waves of the OCean DSP
I bet you weren’t expecting flowers!!! Or, maybe you’ve read my blog enough to know that I can find flowers for almost every topic. Anyway, when I first saw this paper I was stunned at how beautiful it was. I sometimes watch those acrylic pour videos on Facebook and I never expected to see DSP that looks like those creations. And, while I love the blue paper, this Calypso Coral / Daffodil Delight paper just whispered make me with flowers. So I did.
I used the Dahlia Days bundle to create the flowers using Calypso Coral ink. Just look at the detail you get with these stamps. No need to add anything more. Just stamp them with the ink!
The layers were made using triple-time-stamping measurements but without the stamps and without worrying about the patterns on the DSP lining up.
For the sentiment, I used the Label Me Lovely punch. I backed the sentiment by punching a second piece out of Calypso Coral cardstock, then cutting it in half along the straight side. Finally, mounting it onto the sentiment with a bit showing on the top and bottom of the stamped images.
Today’s Color Palette
To figure out what color the leaves should be, I used the color coach to see what looks good with Calypso Coral. My choices were Old Olive and Bermuda Bay. I wanted a bright and cheerful card, so I chose Bermuda Bay. I just love the way it looks on this card!
Make the INside Pretty
When I started the card, I thought I might want 3 dahlias on the front. But that looked too crowded. So, I had an extra dahlia and leaves stamped and cut out. Waste not, want not, those extras were used on the inside of the card.
Don’t Forget the Envelope
To get the stamped leaves to look like they were part of the flower, I cut a mask out of a post-it note using the dahlia die. This let me stamp the leaves so they look as if they’re behind the flower. The mask was so easy because there was a die for the flower.
You can Make it Too

I hope you liked my alternate interpretation of the amazing Waves of the Ocean DSP! And that it inspires you to play with this amazing paper! If you are inspired, I’ve put a list of products used at the end of this post with links to my online store. And, by the way, I think this card could be done in Daffodil Delight or a Blue with one of the blue patterns in the DSP. So many choices!
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
