Today I’m sharing a fun fold as part of Share It Sunday. I saw this fold on France Martin’s blog and knew I had to duplicate it for a sympathy card for a friend. And, although it doesn’t look like a sympathy card, I know she’s a stamper and LOVES fun folds. This card is sure to help her in her grief.
Today’S Project
The scene I’m trying to set is looking through a window out into the garden. And, I just love this fold. I think I’m going to use it a lot.
To start, cut two window frames out of Stitched Rectangle dies. I picked the 3rd and 5th largest dies to get a wide frame. Then, cut a piece of vellum that’s just a bit smaller than the larger die. Finally, use the smaller die to cut a window in the card front.
My color scheme matches my former house with a dark gray base and dark green trim. Basic Gray and Evening Evergreen were a perfect match!. Of course, I wanted some texture on the front so the Brick & Mortar 3D embossing folder was perfect!
To create the window, attach the vellum to one of the frames. And then attach it to the card front. Then attach the other frame to the other side of the window on the inside of the card.
Window Scene Fun Fold Inside Scene
For the inside, cut a piece of Basic White cardstock at 5 1/4″ X 8 inches. Then score it at 4 inches. Now, this is the tricky part. Glue a piece of New Horizon DSP to the backside of the Basic White piece. Then glue the front of the Basic White piece to the inside of the card. That’s what makes the fun fold!
Decorate the DSP however you wish. I chose the flowers from the Garden Greenhouse bundle and the flower pots from the Welcoming Windows bundle for mine. The New Horizons DSP makes a background so easy! You could also use blending brushes and ink to create a background. Finally, I added a few birds to the sky.
Window Fold Inside
One of the things I love about this fold is there is plenty of room to write a long message to the recipient. Or, you could also add more stamping. For my card, I stamped the grass element from the On the Horizon along the bottom of the Basic White layer.
Don’t Forget the envelope
At first, I was stumped about what to do with the envelope, but then I realized I could use the same grass element as on the inside. Easy, peasy!
Now it’s time for some more collaborative fun. Grab a beverage, sit back and enjoy the hop! You should find some awesome ideas and inspiration as others share their projects made with the Waves of the Ocean suite.
